Conveyancers – Please Respond
Dear Sole Practitioner
I should like to thank you for responding to the Questionnaire, the results of which can be found here, and to wish you a Happy and Successful New Year.

Some 4000 questionnaires were sent out of which you will see only 198 were returned, which I am told was a good result. Some 60 other responses were received from SPs who had ceased or did not undertake residential conveyancing.

Rule 2 changes - update your Terms and Conditions
On 1st March 2010 amendments to Rule 2 are made.

As part of the firm's complaints handling duties, the client must be informed at the outset of the retainer in writing that:

- they are entitled to complain about their bill;

- there may also be right to object to the bill by making a complaint to the Legal Complaints Service (or the Office for Legal Complaints) and/or by applying to the court for an assessment of the bill under Part lll of the Solicitors' Act 1974; and
