Appearing before the SDT
Appearing before the SDT

Some advice from someone who has sadly been before the Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal:

1. if they appear before the SDT, they should ensure that they at least summarize orally the salient points of their case, even though they may have set them out fully in writing, as the press will report only what they hear;

2. there are insurances available to meet the cost and disruption of regulatory investigations, which can be ruinous. I am a little doubtful whether such policies are a full solution, as it seems that PI insurers run a mile when one tells them that such investigations are pending.
