Solicitor Sole Practitioners Group

About Us
Who we are and what we do
The Solicitor Sole Practitioners Group (SPG) is one of the Law Society’s recognised groups which represent particular sectors of the profession.

Financial and administrative support is given to them by the Law Society. The reason is that members representing a minority in the profession or have greater difficulty in accessing the decision making process in the Law Society on matters which affect the interests of their members. In some cases the Committees of the Groups concerned act as specialist committees for the Council and staff to consult on issues which concern the members of the Group in question.

SPG has two aims.

The First is to represent the interest of their members within the Law Society and to other bodies, such as the SRA, and to ensure that decisions taken do not compromise or adversely affect Sole Practitioners. SPG also responds to consultations issued by the SRA and other bodies and in this way the expertise and experience of members can help to provide a broader and more informed view.

The Second is to support members through local groups organising, training, conferences and communicating through other means.

The Group communicates by Solo, published quarterly, this website and occasional email contact.
